PZ19 Carb Float Problems - No Fuel

Hello,

I cannot get any fuel past the float valve in my recently purchased PZ19 carb.  From day one, it would run itself dry after a thirty second high speed run but it idled well and did quite nicely on slow speed trails.  Now I cannot get any fuel into the float bowl at all.

So I thought I would take it apart and see what was clogging it.  All I found was what looked like a little rubber cement in the bottom of the float bowl, now removed.  Everything else is clean and flows well using Brake Kleen.  The float needle operates well and I can get plenty of fuel through the main fuel valve in the on and reserve positions with the valve disconnected from the float bowl - no kinked fuel lines here.  I have also removed the circular plastic fuel screen under the large nut in the base of the float bowl - still no fuel.

No gas through the float needle.  What am I missing???? And thanks if you...

Stock CT90 Flat Spot carb FIX!!!!!!!!!!

Like many more before me, you meticulously clean and rebuild your carburetor, put all new nice seals and parts in, and after several float level checks, and cleaning out emulsion tube holes, and twiddling with the idle mixture, you still have that annoying dead spot when you crack the throttle, on a warm engine.  Needless to say, it is very frustrating.   Changing the needle clip just makes it worse, or makes it run like crap in another throttle position.

Well, here is what I did.  My research let me to focus on one of two areas:  The slide cutout size, or the needle "straight" part size.  I tried to find a new slide but those are just not available.  After all, it used to work, right, when the bike was new???  I could have modified a slide to fake a smaller cutout, but I opted for the easier option: the needle diameter.

This was a trial and error effort, and as it turned out, I wasted a stock needle to...

110 Ran Great until Reserve ran dry, now Awful (success at last)

My new to me '84 110 ran great on Tues.; got 210# of me to a solid 45mph on the flats and was tractable throughout the range.
Wed. it started well and after a brief warmup I ran down the road but had an intermittent miss that became worse and power dropped off. It acted like it was running
out of gas, which it was, as the PO had switched the petcock lines and my Main was really Reserve (that took a bit of futzing to figure out). I put in about 1/2gal. but no
change in running. I suspected that it had sucked crud from the run to empty tank so I dropped the petcock (this is where I figured out the line switch) then sediment bowl
and screen; yep, crud. Should be it......nope.
Felt compression is as good as it has been, strong CDI spark at kick over, good looking color on plug/ gas flow through petcock is strong/ blow through fuel intake system via
blow tube on petcock and opening floatbowl drainscrew is good.
Ive now had the carb off 3x and cleaned/probed/blown...

Hi. had a string under Mechanical but moving in here. seem to have fixed the gas in the case, now am having a carb issue...1970 ct 90 only will run w the carb choke all the way on. after 9 times cleaning the carb, got it where i think it's good/clean/working, but still only ran w choke full on. last time i sprayed around the flange and it propmtly died so figued vacumm leak. so problem id'd right? today i took carb off again and sanded down the manifold surface smooth, replaced the gasket on the manifold side (fr napa, sposed to crunch a tad) cleaned up all and botled it down tight. air side is tight too, i even taped where it it meets the boot (cause boot is so old and was so stiff). niether the card or manifold flange looked warpped, o ring looked good.  I ran it a number of miles, and it still wont run unless the choke is full on. I tested it again with sprays of choke cleaner when i got back, and this time no change at all, no die, no change etc. kept...

CT110: Dies at idle

My CT110 is running great, but the idle is too low and it dies unless I give the grip a tiny amount of twist.

I used the cable adjuster at the grip, but ran out of adjustability just before the idle got to the right speed.

What do I need to adjust to very slightly increase the warm idle speed?

Oddball carb main jets source?

I posted this in the classifieds section too, but not sure if this might be more appropriate, and since someone in the future will probably have the same problem?

I have a 1969 k1 A ct90 with the 4 screw, oddball carb. It has a #62 jet installed. I have read that stock for this year/carb was a #75? Unless at high elevation, in which case the #62 would be correct. I live and ride at around 2500' though, so I want to go back to stock as I do not consider this to be high elevation. Also, my piston has been overbored to the 53.5mm so this makes me think that I could go even larger than stock, as long as my intake can keep up. This should greatly increase the power, at the cost of fuel economy. Is this correct logic and information?

I ordered some jets from DRATV without really considering they might be the wrong size. The ones I got were smaller, narrower overall, and had a narrower thread profile than the face, or head, or whatever you call...

Jetting question. Are you running a 70 or 72 main?

My 86 and 82 CT110 came with a 72 main and a 38 pilot jet.

I see they also list a #70 main on the fiche.

What is the stock jet, or does it depend on the elevation the bike was sold at?

Pilot jet and Main Jet...are they related?

I swapped out my 85 main jet that came in my chinese carb for a correct #72 main, and it runs good...but the pilot jet was a 34 in the chinese carb, and a 38 in the OEM one.

It seems to run fine, but should I change my pilot jet up to a 38 as well now that I'm running the 72 in the chinese carb?

Just wondering if the main and pilot work independent of each other, or if there is some relation...aka if I run a 85 and 34, and a 72 and 38 is that close or are the all independent?

Thanks!

Viton Tipped float needle? M91A Carb ('66 CM91)

I searched for 'Viton' on the forum and didn't find anything. My '66 CM91 with M91A Keihin carb has a issue with the carb unable to be adjusted to prevent it from overflowing via the overflow tube. I continually get a small drip The carb has been rebuilt with a Keyster carb kit. I have swapped the original needle and holder back in, swapped a spare float in, set the carb float height at 18mm, 19.5mm and 21mm (one manual denotes 18mm while another denotes 21mm) with both the new needle and old needle. My only conclusion so far, unless someone can offer up something else to try, is to find a Viton tipped needle valve for the float. So with that being said does anyone have a source for such?

Thanks,
Chris.

Morning Guys,

I ordered a carb rebuild kit from DrATV and have found a component I am not familiar with.  It is a small brass plug with a slotted top and concaved hole on top.  I have closely inspected my 1970 CT90 carburetor for a similar part and have found none.  Stamp on my Kei Hin carburetor is K29A.  When I say small, I mean pretty small. The head is 4.15 mm, length is 7.0 mm.  Any ideas?

Gas Flow ?

I just put on new fuel line and filters. Has anybody ever had a problem with gas flow if the put extra line on and shove it into the space under the tank? Is it gravity feed or will the carb pull it? I have about 1 ft. of extra line up in there. I'm using the stock tank, not the XR in my avatar picture.

Quick Question:

K2 Carb has two fuel line connections: One is on top of the other...one is closer to the seat and one is closer to the ground. Which is the reserve line?

Bonus Question: The reserve in the tank is on the left side inside the tank while sitting on the bike...is this correct?

I busted the air filter box on my '71 K3.  Has anybody tried running a small one-piece air filter that hooks directly to the carb?  Except for not being able to run under water...any problems?

CT 110 Replacement Carb Adjustment

$

Howdy folks, I'm new on the boards here after reading through a lot of info posted.

I have just replaced my 86 110 carb with a replacement. Didn't pay well enough attention at bought one without a petcock attached. Bought a petcock and installed that as well.

After rebuilding my OE carb, I just couldn't get it to run properly, so here I am.

Took the 72 main jet out of the original carb and replaced the 96 that came in the new carb. I checked the throttle needle on the cable, and only one setting. I can't adjust it higher in the holder.

It just seems that at wide open throttle, this new carb doesn't get the speed the original used to get. Is it just these replacement carbs, or am I doing something wrong. I've adjusted the throttle vs air 2 dozen different ways.

Here is the carb:

Emulsion tubes - which way do they fit???

Hi guys, I have a question about the emulsion tubes in the CT110 carby.  But firstly, thanks to you guys and this forum (plus the shop manual) I have learned more about engines by 'doing' than I could have ever learned on my own.  You lot are appreciated in a big way.

I have what I think is a '93 CT110.  The compliance plate says 3/93 to the left of the VIN number.  Logic tells me it's a March '93 however I not certain that the universe is so kind to me.  What I do know is my emulsion tube is not the screw in type, it's the type that needs to be bumped out which was easy enough.  I've gone over the carby a half dozen time and cleaned it pretty hard.  I thought while I'm there and because I don't know the specific history of this bike with 30,000km on it, I'd buy a carby kit and replace all the o-rings, pins, jets n' stuff and subsequently the main jet to #80 as I'm going to be using a pod...

suddenly dies, but restarts

Hi, new guy here to both this forum and the CT90 K2,
I just got this bike about 6 weeks ago and am having a lot of fun with it.  I am a long time street rider with a VTX1800 and a 1978 Goldwing but am finding that in it's own way, this CT90 is just as fun.

My issue is that the bike is slow to warm up to where it will not die and occasionally, even when warm, will die when stopping for lights and such.   Not always, but when it does, it's like someone flipped a switch on it.  It starts right up again on the first kick.   I've got the idle set properly and have set the fuel screw to the best idle speed at elevated RPM (per the book).   It is a knock off carb which was newish when I bought the bike.   I have the OEM carb which has (according to the person I bought it from) been recently rebuilt.  In any event, I have run a dose of SeaFoam through it for the last two tank fulls with no change.
